How many hours do you work each week on average? This infographic ranks countries from around the world based on the comparison between their average number of hours worked each week per individual and the average annual compensation. The rankings and statistics are also based on the 37 most affluent countries from around the world.

Our work plays a big role in all of our lives, and it can become overwhelming at times. It can often be difficult to separate your work life from your personal life too, as we’ve become so connected with technology in today’s digital age. However, it’s important to always put the work in to maintain a healthy work-life balance, because if you don’t, it can have negative effects on you both physically and mentally.

  4. Turkey: 48.4 hours
  5. Chile: 45.7 hours
  6. South Africa: 45 hours
  7. Israel: 44.4 hours
  8. Iceland: 43.4 hours
  9. New Zealand: 42.7 hours
  10. Brazil: 42.5 hours

And if you live in Denmark, then there’s a great chance that you have a nice work-life balance. Here are the top 10 countries with the lowest average hours in a single work week:

  1. Denmark: 37.2 hours
  2. Netherlands: 37.3 hours
  3. Norway: 38 hours
  4. Belgium: 38.8 hours
  5. France: 38.9 hours
  6. Sweden: 39.0 hours
  7. Finland: 39.3 hours
  8. Germany: 39.5 hours

Denmark has the best hours-to-salary ratio in the world, with the average salary being $55,253 and the average work week clocking in at 37.2 hours. Here are the top six best ratios (average salaries and average hours worked each week) from around the globe:

  1. Denmark: $55,253 at 37.2 hours
  2. Netherlands: $54,262 at 37.3 hours
  3. Norway: $50,956 at 38 hours
  4. Belgium: $52,080 at 38.8 hours
  5. France: $44,510 at 38.9 hours

Here are the countries with the highest percentages of employees who work more than 50 hours each week:
